Bureau à gradin by Jean-François Oeben
A Louis XV bureau à gradin with rococo mounts, fully veneered in satiné and amaranth. The simple veneer of this piece of furniture combines well with its form. The decorative effect lies entirely in the grain and disposition of the satiné framed by banding in amaranth and ebony and boxwood fillets. The gradin presents three parts with a central compartment divided horizontally by a shelf, and subdivided into two compartments in the higher section; on either side of the middle section are three drawers closed by a tambour door.
