Artist: Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain (1719-1791, maître fondeur-ciseleur in 1748 and Pierre II Le Roy (1687-1762, maître horloger in 1721

Epoque: France, Louis XV period, circa 1745

Material: Chased ormolu, enamel

Dimensions: H. 17 ¼ in. (44 cm); W. 9 ¾ in. (24,5 cm)

Signature: PIERRE LE ROY A PARIS on the dial ; ST GERMAIN on the ormolu case.

Description:

This chased ormolu cartel displays a white enamel dial signed PIERRE LE ROY A PARIS, with Roman chapters indicating the hours and Arabic chapters the minutes. The asymmetrical case luxuriously chased with flower buds, foliate and festooned scrolls enhanced with a pierced partition reflect its pure rococo obedience.
