Exceptional pair of candlesticks
The exceptional quality and sharpness of the chasing, coupled with a vivacious design, and perfected technique; all evoke the influence of goldsmith Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695-1750). His style is reinterpreted here within the same spirited and creative lines, yet displaying stronger more palpable outlines, and reduced movement.
The eye of the observer is first swept towards the acanthus leaves emerging at the base, scrolling around the central stem. It is then attracted by the multiple ramifications, the volumes, and the budding leaves. Such intricate volutes give the amateur an opportunity to endlessly discover new outlines.
