Pair of pots-pourris
Of all lacquered objects, the red ones, more seldom, were particularly sought after. Each ovoid pot-pourri vase in red lacquered wood exhibits two sections combined with a pierced chased ormolu frieze enhanced with molded borders and a scrolled acanthus band. The upper piece forming lid is topped with a seeded foliate pull button emerging from a molded acanthus leaves corolla.
Two large foliate mascarons surrounded with acanthus leaves flank the pots-pourris, each issuing two S-shaped volutes forming handle, joined at the top with a small ring. They stand on a small fluted pedestal surrounded with a frieze of interlace and rosettes, supported by a smooth ormolu plinth with rounded indents.
