Epoque: France, Louis XVI period (1774-1792)

Material: Chased ormolu, chased and patinated bronze, enamel

Dimensions: H. 47,5 cm. (18 ¾ in.) ; L. 23 cm. (9 in.)

Signature: “J CHAMBON” on the dial

Description:

A Louis XVI ormolu bronze mantel clock. The dial is surrounded by two leaned putti, the first one against a trunk and the other one against a palm. This set is surmounted by an obelisk flanked with military attributes, topped by a crown on a pillow and relied on four lion feet. This mantel clock stands on a blackened wood base decorated with an ormolu interlaced design frieze.
